House in Sherwood

Wow this house is really looking good! We are still busy with the finishing touches such as artwork and positioning of accessories but I am really really happy with the look and feel of this interior.

The lounge is a mix of black, grey, silver, white and accents of hot pink. The wallpaper behind the sleeper couch adds the finishing touch, and the floating storage cupboards are high gloss to match the kitchen.

The Main Bedroom makes use of plum colours, sprayed glass and high gloss sprayed supawood to create a classy yet comfortable bedroom setting.

The boys room is typically blue but is distinctively different in the designs for the cupboards, the study unit and the headboard!

The younger boy's room has a playful touch with the use of lime green and off white. The striped wallpaper is just amazing on the wall behind the headboard.

We searched and searched for a wallpaper for the landing and finally found this amazing Eiffinger wallpaper that the client was pleased with. When it was installed we were all thrilled with the outcome, and the round mirror and the 3 pendants add the finishing touch.

We will be taking final photos soon for the website so keep a look out for those on www.jossi.co.za

Umgeni Water Head Office, PMB

The renovations for the Umgeni Water head office should be getting underway soon. The tenders have come in and the project management team have done their evaluations. The next step is an internal meeting tomorrow afternoon at Umgeni Water in Pietermaritzburg in order to move forward with the awarding of the tender to the successful contractor.

In the interim the new Umgeni Water sign has been installed in front of the building and I was very happy with the outcome when I went to a meeting at their offices last week. This sign is a glimpse at the new look and feel for the head office interior - fresh, bold, professional and innovative.

We look forward to the start of the renovations and seeing our designs starting to take shape. It is going to be a long process as this is a massive building, but we are certain the final look and feel is going to impress.

Jossi Design is working to add some new features to our website in the next few weeks so keep visiting www.jossi.co.za to see what is in store.

Spiga D'oro on Florida Road

Spiga D'Oro on Florida Road was setting up for the Valentine's weekend when I went there on Friday. It was already looking good when I got there, with everyone hanging lights and decorations.

The wallpaper had been installed in the back area which looks absolutely awesome! I am so happy with the outcome of the paint colours, wallpaper and the feature pendant/ lamp shades at the bar area.

I made a booking for Valentine's day and I was not disappointed. It was a fantastic afternoon of good food, drink and live music.

Sitting out in the Piazza next to the fountain had a relaxing effect, and the food was complimented by good conversation with Sergio and Marco, the owners of Spiga who have a real passion for their thriving restaurant.

A red awning was put up over the piazza area making for a more romantic setting and created a cool and intimate interior.

It was so good to see people enjoying the piazza area of Spiga, there is still work to be done but it is really taking shape and has such an atmosphere. The feeling of being really at home while having a great meal with friends is typical of Spiga and this new outdoor area reflects this ethos.

Spiga's key phrase is 'Live With Passion', which we have engraved into the concrete bar in the Piazza area. Passion is involved in every aspect of Spiga and I think this is also true of Jossi Design.

Our relationship with our clients is very important to us and we hope that we are able to make their vision become a reality.

Harlequin Fabric Launch

On Wednesday 11th February Tarryn, Karen and I (The Jossi Design Team), I had the pleasure of attending the Harlequin Fabric Launch. This was held at the Quarters Hotel on Florida Road and it was a wonderful venue with amazing catering which made for a great afternoon.

We were very impressed with the latest fabric range, which include a wide range of designs, colours and textures.

I do have a love for wallpaper so I knew the latest wallpaper range was going to be something I would take particular notice of. I was not disappointed, with a large variety of florals and stripes it was great to see what we can use for future projects.

I am including a quick preview of some of the ranges as I think the images are fantastic, for more information please visit the website http://www.harlequin.uk.com/.

House in Zimbali

The house we are workign on in Zimbali is coming along slowly but we are hoping to have this finished by March/ April this year.

The trusses give the interior such character, the ceiling we've designed creates a great sense of space while also creating such interest due to the different levels and heights used in the design.

The view from the verandah is wonderful, the balustrades were installed at the end of the year. These are simple, square balustrades made of dark stained timber and I am pleased with the effect achieved.

The sliding doors have been installed, the extensive use of these lets a large amount of light into the interior. The effect is wonderful, allowing the interior to open up and become part of the verandah space.

We are looking forward to seeing the end result with the tiling, sanware and light fittings in place. And of course we need to start looking at sourcing the furniture, curtaining and decorating which will complete the interior. This is going to be an amazing home located in the wonderful Zimbali Estate.

Cassim Kadwa Architect and Valuer offices was an exciting and challenging project for Jossi Design. We are very happy with the final look and the professional and creative feel that the client was trying to achieve has definitely come across through the interior design and decorating.

The office space is located on Musgrave Road in Durban, and it is a truely unique heritage building. It is called 'The Stables' and the architecture, with its exposed timber trusses, green corrugated roof, and 'L' Shaped layout, made this a very special project, the building has a wonderful character of its own.

The client allowed Jossi Design to be truely creative, therefore wallpaper was used to create features in the reception/ waiting area and in the CEO office. Contemporary design is mixed with the historical architecture to create an amazing result.

Lighting was a real challenge due to the extensive use of exposed timber trusses, and there had to be sufficient functional lighting for the staff. We worked closely with the client and Cobin Lighting to create the desired effect which is not overpowering and creates the feeling of a sofisticated office space.

Timber laminate flooring has been used extensively, however quartz carpet has been used in the reception/ waiting area to definte this space. This creates a great play on finishes and textures. Glass has also been used to define the boardroom and the CEO's office.

Artwork is placed only on those feature walls to create interest and is not overdone. Feature pendants have been introduced into the passage area and is visible from the boardroom area through the glass partitioning.

So far Jossi Design seems to be on a good start with alot of new and exciting projects underway. We are looking forward to what this year is going to bring and hoping all our friends, suppliers and fellow designers and architects will have a prosperous year.
