House by the Beach in Durban

Jossi Interior Design is busy with all different types of projects at the moment which keeps us running around and out of trouble.

I am including photos of one of our latest projects, this three story house has amazing views of the ocean as it is a stone's throw from the beach. The slab has only just been cast for the top storey which will be the Main Bedroom which encompasses an open plan TV lounge, Bedroom, breakfast area and a bathroom enclosed by glass screens, not to mention a private dressing area.

The ground floor is the entrance and Home Theatre so that when 'the guys' come around to watch the rugby they do not have to be part of the main house. There is also the Guest Bedroom and en-suite on the ground floor.

From the main entrance you then progress up the curved staircase into the open plan dining room, with grand piano, kitchen and large lounge area. The TV room is also located on this floor and is more the family lounge. The 2 bedrooms for the kids are also located on this floor and both have dressing areas and en-suite bathrooms.

Another great project which we at Jossi Interior Design are happy to be involved in. Take a look at our website www.jossi.co.za

New Umhlanga Apartment

This apartment is going to be absolutely stunning! We are opening up all the spaces, knocking out all the existing internal walls and allowing for skylights to bring in natural light. The builders are working extremely fast and we are working fast to try to keep up.

This apartment in Umhlanga has amazing views of the sea. We are going to use Mediterranean shutters at all the windows, and we are going to carpet all the bedrooms. The rest of the apartment is tiled and we will be using rugs to add a bit of warmth and intimacy.

The bathrooms are being opened up so there is a feeling of space, whereas before they were very small and uncomfortable. New sanware and tiles have been purchased.

We are ready with the ceiling and lighting layouts, as well as the Main Lounge fireplace and TV unit design. Another fireplace is going to be located in the Main Bedroom. This apartment is definetly going to reflect the styles and taste of the owners but with a contemporary twist. For more information on our projects visit our website http://www.jossi.co.za

Jossi Design has been working on a cricket box at Kingsmead in Durban. With one week of design work and one week installation we are very happy with the result.

The deadline for this project was extremely tight. The client contacted us 2 weeks before the first game for the IPL in Durban! It was decided to use as much of the eixting fittings as possible. The kitchen cupboards have all been resprayed and new handles installed. We designed a cupboard unit to house the Fridge and sprayed this to match the new cupboard doors. A new granite top was installed on the kitchen counter, and we decided to mosaic the kitchen wall using the one of the company colours as the dominant colour, and the accent of the green is also a company colour.

The existing bar was turned around so that some of those people frequenting the box could eat at the bar. We added in the higher glass counter top with stainless steel supports, the whole bar was resprayed (originally this was a wood veneer). We also installed a new walnut timber laminate floor over the existing tiles.

We repainted all the walls, but not before moving any plug points that were affecting the design, such as moving the TV point and allowing for the illuminated company signage on the wall. We added a floating shelf under the TV so that people can place their drinks here while wandering around the box.

Finally the low counter (originally a melamine counter) was removed and new granite installed to match the new kitchen counter top. New chairs were purchased for this area so people can sit here and eat and still watch the game without blocking the view of others within the suite.

We are very happy with the outcome and enjoyed working on this project, although quite stressful with such a tight deadline. For further information on our projects please go to our website www.jossi.co.za

JOSSI DESIGN FABRIC ARRIVAL

We have just received our latest collection of fabric books from Alhambra. These beautiful fabric books are going to make our lives at Jossi Design much easier.

Alhambra Maya has incredible bold stripes and florals, the colours are vibrant and exciting. These fabrics will make wonderful accents in any scheme and we can't wait to use them.

Alhambra Kronos is made up of a variety of unique voiles, some glitsy stripes and others so fine and delicate that they will add a touch of elegance to a picture window.

Alhambra Emotions will appeal to a smaller group of clients, possibly more the lodges and south african themed upmarket restaurants and hotels. There is a definite ethnic theme running through these fabrics but also some organic floral shapes so there is a mixture within this book which also includes some interesting wallpapers.

Alhambra Montecarlo has so many options it is a lovely book, with interesting florals like the Maya however this is more subtle in design and colours.

And finally Alhambra Essence which is the wallpapers, and there are some amazing and interesting wallpapers that I am looking forward to using. It is tiring seeing the same wallpapers over and over again so I am glad to have add this book to our collection.
Please visit our website http://www.jossi.co.za/ for photos of completed schemes.
