The Dave Nemeth Trend Report

So the Dave Nemeth Trend report is coming to Durban in May.  Look out for this event as it was so well received last year, and has been greatly anticipated. 

This is not just another talk about colour trends. The information presented at last year's workshop was so useful and inspiring.  The various products and methods of using new or recycled materials made a great impression on me.  Taken from the IID's invitaiton to the Dave Nemeth Trend Report:  "Separately from customary pattern, colour and shape directions, this forecast covers moreover the changing face of retail, with the importance of merchandising, connecting with the consumer as well as "pop up" retailing". 

"The workshop will offer definitive insight into where business is headed, consumer attitudes and a multiple of other topics such as future retailing.  This covers all aspects including physical space, new office space design and engaging with the workforce of the future".

Interior Concept Proposal

It appears as though I have been very bad at keeping this blog updated recently, sincere apologies to our faithful followers.

I met with a manager at the Wild Coast Sun two weeks ago, they had asked Jossi Design to quote on the refurbishment of their Slots Prive Area. An exciting prospect to get involved with some work at the casino. I managed to convert our PowerPoint Presentation into a little movie for you to enjoy - sorry there's no sound, but you'll get the gist of it.

Decorex 2012

As members of the South African Institute of the Interior Design Professions, Jossi Design has once again been involved with Decorex. A stressful time leading up to the show, but fortunately the various suppliers do get involved with generous sponsorships.

This year we stepped out of our design box and went with a bold and colourful scheme. Lots of bright colours which made the result quite fun. 

Decorex is on until Sunday, 25th March, so go and have a look for yourself if you get a chance! 

IID KZN Regional Meeting

The IID KZN Regional meeting took place on the 23rd February 2012 at Plaisir du Jardin on Florida Road, Durban.

The various IID Designer, Decorator and supplier members came together for this inspiring evening that was centered on ‘outdoor design’. Plaisir du Jardin is a well known supplier of outdoor furniture and accessories and their selection is absolutely amazing. With so much to choose from it can be overwhelming so we were thankful when they offered to host one of our meetings. In this way the members could view just some of the furniture and accessories on display in the showroom, sit on the chairs and enjoy the comfort of the couches and loungers.

 

A new twist to the evening was having the other IID supplier members present their outdoor products to those who attended the meeting. The speakers included:

• Donna Plater from St. Leger and Viney 

• Debbie Schuurman from Walnut Interiors

• Henry Nel from Hertex

• Jalayne Schmahl from U&G

 

Thank you to these suppliers, we enjoyed every minute, it was a truly informative and fun-filled evening.

Jocelyn Jones, CEO of Jossi Design (PTY) LTD is also the Head of the IID KZN Region.  She briefly informed members of what the IID has been up to since the beginning of the year, and reminded members about the various marketing opportunities available through the IID and the benefits of their membership. Jocelyn also briefed those present on the upcoming events being organized through the IID as well as other local events that are possibly of interest to the members.

Inspired Design

I am completely obsessed with this building! The main elevation has almost a children's drawing quality to it - it's such a simple silhouette but then has the offset glass panels to the one side making it sophisticated and edgy. Inside, the structural bits and pieces have been carefully incorporated to give an intelligent, cohesive design solution.

This building was designed in Berlin by Stefan Braunfels Architekten.
